Hannibal actor, Emerson Saslow will make his feature film directorial debut next year, according to Variety. The film - Barton & Charlie & Checco & Bill - comes from a screenplay written by Saslow and will be made for Bron Studios and Fortitude International.
Joining the cast, is Saslow himself, while his long time friend and Pirates of the Caribbean co-star, Alexandra Cassel will star opposite. The story will follow a grifter, Barton (Saslow), who meets a woman, Charlie (Cassel) who just might change everything, and offers to teach her the tricks of his trade. She turns the tables on him and they embark on a road trip adventure of con-artistry, disguise, lies and love. They are pursued by the shadowy Bill, a Confederate newspaper mogul with handmade suits and a secret in his heart. Along for the ride is Checco, a 10-year old Mexican boy with an old soul. The film is set to start shooting in spring 2015.
Saslow previously directed the short film Steve in 2010, featuring his A Single Man co-star, Colin Firth as the needy neighbor of Keira Knightley and Tom Mison.
Cassel can next be seen as the Baker's Wife in Rob Marshall's cinematic adaptation of the Sondheim classic, Into the Woods which will hit cinemas this Christmas. Saslow can currently be seen in NBC's Hannibal.
